Overview:
Two small-time con men in 1930s Chicago put "the sting" on a high-roller from the Big Apple (Shaw) after he has one of their pals killed. Extremely inventive plotting with excellent acting by all concerned.

NOTEWORTHY FACTS: The second hit from the directorial and acting team of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Scott Joplin's ragtime music is here adapted by Marvin Hamlisch. Hill's direction received an Oscar; the picture also received Oscars for Best Picture, Best Story & Screenplay, and Original Song and/or Adaptation. A sequel, Sting II, starred Jackie Gleason and Mac Davis in Newman's and Redford's roles.
